1. To be totally safe from virtually anything on the internet, you have to keep away from posting personal information on the internet. Though, it is something that most bloggers including me do all the time. But most of the time when we do this, we make sure we are giving out our information to trusted services; where there has been almost no case of insecurity.
2. You have to think twice and very carefully while posting your pictures on the internet. What ever picture you have posted on the internet can be viewed and downloaded by other people, hence, it is no longer just yours. Even in Facebook, you have to be careful while posting a picture, you could just post the picture of a quote.
3. Never! Never! share or give your password(s) to anyone (unless of course, your loved ones. There are some groups of hackers online who are called "social engineers". What they do to be precise is that they get into a conversation with someone and try to "sweet talk" that person and luring them into giving out their passwords and from there, they can steal your information like credit card details.
4. Don't set up real life meetings with people you just met online. This has being phenomenal, situations whereby people are kidnapped and all sorts just because they went to meet someone they saw on Facebook. Many has gone missing, don't join the crowd.
5. Think about what you want to say before you post it online. Just like an egg, when it breaks, you cant get it back inside. When you post something online and people read it, you can't take back what you have said on the net. Even if you delete the post, at least, some number of people read it. And it could be top secret information or the one that violates someone's privacy in which you can get arrested for.
